Did you know that the Portuguese Golden visa will suffer alterations, but will only be put into practise in 2022!
You have until the end of 2021 to take advantage of the current Portugal Golden Visa scheme. 

What are the main changes that will be done to the Portuguese Golden Visa?

The alterations to take place in 2022 are those regarding Real Estate Purchases and Capital Transfers. 

As of January 2022, those who wish to purchase residential properties in the Algarve, Lisbon and Oporto will not be able to do so, as investment will be directed to low-density areas in Portugal. Algarve, Lisbon and Oporto are categorized as high-density areas, as well a few coastal areas such as Setúbal and the Silver Coast (Coast line that goes from Lisbon to Figueira da Foz).

Real estate investments in housing properties worth between 280.000 and 350.0000 Euros, located in the Azores and Madeira Islands or in the low-density areas located in the Portugal's (Mainland) inland will be eligible to obtain the Portugal Golden Visa.

The amount of Capital transfer required will be increased from 1 million Euros to 1.5 million Euros. As for the Investment Fund minimum subscription, investment made in Research and investment into an existing business registered in Portugal will increase from 350,000 Euros to €500,000 Euros.
