Portuguese wine the best in world and a great investment!

In 2019, Forbes| Vivino elected 3 Portuguese wines amongst the best in the world. This is no wonder to most, but what’s exciting is the strategy behind the wine. Did you know that Portugal ranks second in the world in most indigenous wine varietals? And that it has two wine-producing regions protected by UNESCO as World Heritage: the Douro Valley Wine Region (Douro Vinhateiro) and Pico Island Wine Region (Ilha do Pico Vinhateira)?

What’s becoming more curious  to foreigners coming to Portugal is that there are a lot of communities that are now offering properties in which the client can buy their homes and have a vineyard in their own back yard. This can become a hobby to the homeowner and even a great investment! It is possible to have a brand, label and harvest. Where else can you get that?

Here are the wines that made it to Vivino’s list of the world’s best wines:

  1. Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
  2. Domaine de La Romanée-Conti Burgundy Côte de Nuits Red 2000
